After the collapse of Somali government and following civil war caused a total destruction of all social institutions. The impact of the civil strife varies from region to region from clan to clan but has greatly affected to all Somalia. Armed robbery, rape and displacement were targeted against women and those vulnerable communities and have resulted to reduce their subsistence means up to an extent in which most of them live in an abject poverty.
In 2017 a group of Somali farsighted’ businessmen and prominent members from women groups have founded (MARADO), when they eventually realized the scale of the problem. They committed to assist development of their people whom were afflicted by the natural and manmade disasters in Somalia
These women realized the vital role played by NGOs in developing countries – and their ability to directly alleviate suffering and engender hope.
They also saw a desperate need for intervention in Somalia and proposed not to sit back and watch. As indigenous people, they had a unique ability to access the grassroots; and have since been able to implement many very successful projects in concert with local communities – growing to become one of the largest local NGOs in Somalia.

The main of the organization is to discourage those old customs of segregating parts of Somali communities from the rest, which is a prejudice inhuman practice. (MARADO) was able to provide access to food, water, agricultural, rehabilitation and health facilities.
